The two weeks since her Vanity Fair photo controversy have certainly been tough ones for Miley Cyrus – but they’ve also helped her evolve.

“We’re all changing,” the 15-year-old Cyrus told a screaming crowd Saturday onstage at KIIS-FM’s Wango Tango concert in Irvine, Calif. “I thank you for helping me as I grow through that.”

The Disney star did not address the controversy directly during her 30-minute set – and she successfully avoided reporters by skipping the red carpet. But – as she did similarly last weekend at an Orlando concert – Cyrus thanked fans for supporting her “through everything that’s been going on in life.”

Since the racy photos shot by Annie Leibovitz first drew public ire, numerous celebrities have come to Cyrus’s defense, including Tyra Banks, Jamie Lee Curtis and The Hills‘s Whitney Port.

The Hannah Montana star has apologized for the provocative shot and vowed to “learn from my mistakes.”

Miley Cyrus is teaming up with—ready for this?—John Travolta.

Not only are they both voicing characters in the upcoming animated flick Bolt, but Travolta’s wife, Kelly Preston, tells me they could be making music together.

“Johnny may sing with Miley,” Preston said at yesterday’s Step Up Women’s Network’s Inspiration Awards luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Preston and Travolta’s 8-year-old daughter, Ella, is a longtime Cyrus fan. They first met Cyrus when the Hannah Montana star was opening for Cheetah Girls during their concert tour about two years ago. “We [now] know Miley very well,” Preston said, “and she’s a sweetheart.”

Preston hasn’t seen the controversial Vanity Fair photo. “All I know is that I know her personally and she’s a really good girl with a great head on her shoulders,” she said.

While the racy / naked Miley Cyrus Pictures were dominating the news, the Disney icon had her name legally changed last week in Santa Monica.

Miley’s dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, told Oprah he had a special reason for naming her Destiny Hope Cyrus, which she legally ditched last week.

Miley Cyrus’ destiny and hope were to legally be called Miley.

“I had this vision that it was her destiny to bring hope to the world,” Billy Ray said.

“And as a baby, she just kept smiling all the time. So her name was Destiny Hope, but I started calling her Smiley. Then as you start talking to a baby, you start dropping the S’s off the front end, and pretty soon Smiley became Miley.” View all content of this post »
